The Cisco WS-CBS3020-HPQ is a Cisco Catalyst Blade Switch 3020, built specifically to fit the HP BladeSystem c-Class blade enclosure as an integrated Ethernet switch module. It slots into one of the enclosure’s interconnect bays and provides Layer 2/3 Ethernet switching for the blade servers housed in the same c-Class chassis, avoiding the need to cable each blade server individually out to an external top-of-rack switch. This is a joint Cisco-HP product co-developed for the c-Class platform, distinct from Cisco’s standalone Catalyst 3020 hardware, and is only compatible with HP c-Class enclosures rather than other blade chassis vendors. It remains a common fit in established HP BladeSystem deployments still running this generation of blade hardware.
