The ME 3400 range is built for Ethernet access in service-provider and metro-Ethernet networks, delivering demarcation and aggregation functions – QoS, VLAN and Ethernet OAM support – between customer premises equipment and the wider carrier network, rather than being a general-purpose enterprise LAN switch. The 24-port 10/100 configuration with dual SFP uplinks suits smaller access sites needing local copper connectivity aggregated back to fibre. It remains a common platform in legacy metro-Ethernet access networks still running established service contracts.
