The Cisco WS-C1912C-EN is a Catalyst 1900 Series fixed-configuration Ethernet switch, Enterprise Edition, with 12 dedicated 10BaseT ports plus one 100BaseTX and one 100BaseFX Fast Ethernet uplink port. The dual-media uplink (copper and fibre) let the original installer run a fibre backbone connection to a wiring closet without needing an external transceiver, which made the 1912C a common choice in buildings where copper runs to the MDF exceeded distance limits. As with the wider Catalyst 1900 family, the Enterprise Edition firmware adds ISL VLAN trunking, CGMP and extended SNMP/RMON diagnostics over the Standard image.
