The VPN 3002 is part of Cisco’s VPN 3000 Concentrator Series, designed to terminate IPSec tunnels back to a central-site VPN 3000 Concentrator (and, via client protocol support, other Cisco VPN endpoints including PIX and IOS routers) without requiring client software on every desktop behind it. The bundled switch lets a small remote office or teleworker site connect several devices through the single hardware client rather than running one PC directly off it, with support for DHCP client/server and NAT/PAT for multiple downstream stations.
