The 3-slot chassis accepts a Catalyst 4000-series Supervisor Engine plus up to two further line cards, making it the smallest chassis in the modular 4000 family, suited to wiring-closet or small aggregation deployments that need modular flexibility without the port density of the larger 6/9-slot chassis. This listing is the chassis and fan tray only; a Supervisor Engine, line cards and power supplies must be fitted separately to bring it into service.
