The Cisco SFP-10G-SR-S is a 10GBASE-SR SFP+ transceiver in Cisco’s enterprise-class optics range, operating at 850nm over multimode fibre with a reach of up to 300m on OM3 and up to 400m on OM4 cabling via an LC duplex connector. It is a Cisco-qualified optic that passes the vendor ID checks built into Cisco IOS and NX-OS platforms, avoiding the compatibility warnings some switches raise against unrecognised third-party modules. This is the standard short-reach 10 Gigabit Ethernet optic for connecting Cisco switches and routers over existing multimode fibre runs within a building or data hall; for longer single-mode links an LR-rated module is needed instead.
