The Cisco WS-X6582-2PA is an Enhanced FlexWAN module for the Catalyst 6500 series, fabric-enabled for the switch’s central crossbar fabric on Sup720/Sup32-equipped chassis. The FlexWAN family brings WAN interface flexibility to the Catalyst 6500 by accepting Cisco’s standard Port Adapter modules (the same PA form factor used on 7200/7500 series routers), letting a 6500 chassis add serial, ATM, POS or other WAN interfaces alongside its native LAN switching. The Enhanced FlexWAN carries two port-adapter bays and connects directly to the fabric backplane for dedicated bandwidth rather than the older shared-bus architecture. This module remains a routine spare on Catalyst 6500 deployments used for combined WAN aggregation and LAN switching roles. Tech-Star (UK-based, shipped worldwide) supplies Cisco line cards.
