The Dell T946J is a Type 2 control module carrying 1 GB of cache with a SATA II 3 Gbps drive interface, used in the PS50E, PS100E, PS200E, PS300E and PS400E iSCSI storage arrays.

The control module is the array. It holds the iSCSI target, the RAID engine, the cache and the PS series firmware, and it presents the gigabit Ethernet ports the hosts connect to, while the chassis behind it holds only drives and power. Members are normally fitted with two control modules running active and standby, so a failed module can be replaced without taking the volumes offline.
