The Emulex 1012427 is supplied against an LPe12002-M8 LightPulse dual port 8 Gbit/s Fibre Channel host bus adapter. The LPe12002 is a two port PCI Express card that negotiates at 8, 4 or 2 Gbit/s, so it attaches to a fabric built for the previous generation without forcing a switch upgrade, and the M8 ending indicates the multimode 8 Gbit/s optics fitted.

It supports N_Port ID Virtualisation, which lets a virtualised host present a separate worldwide name per guest so that zoning and LUN masking can be applied to individual virtual machines rather than only to the physical port.
