The Emulex LP9802DC-E is a dual channel 2 Gbit/s Fibre Channel host bus adapter on a 133 MHz PCI-X interface. The DC in the part number denotes the dual channel build, giving two independent Fibre Channel ports from one slot, and the E ending marks the EMC variant with EMC qualified firmware so that the card is recognised as a supported adapter by an EMC array and by PowerPath.

The LP9802 family belongs to the 2 Gbit/s generation of LightPulse and negotiates down to 1 Gbit/s for older fabrics. A 133 MHz PCI-X slot is needed to get the full benefit of two 2 Gbit/s ports; the card will seat in a slower PCI-X slot but both ports will then share less bandwidth than they can use.
