The HP 8764A is a 5-port coaxial RF switch covering DC to 4 GHz, part of HP’s (now Keysight, via Agilent) test and measurement instrument range rather than its ProCurve networking or enterprise server catalogue. Built around SMA female connectors on a 50 ohm system, it switches an RF signal between five ports with low insertion loss (under 0.20 dB to 2 GHz, under 0.25 dB to 4 GHz) and isolation greater than 100 dB, and is driven from a 24V DC coil supply. Coaxial switches of this type are used inside automated RF/microwave test systems and calibration racks to route signals between test instruments, amplifiers and devices under test without manual cable changes, and remain a staple in labs still running legacy 8760-series HP test equipment. HP’s test and measurement division was spun out as Agilent Technologies in 1999 and later became Keysight Technologies in 2014, so genuine HP-branded units like this one are now a discontinued legacy line supported only through the secondary market.
