The HP J9028A is a ProCurve Switch 1800-24G, the original hardware revision of HP’s 1800-24G unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switch (superseded in later production by the J9028B revision), built for plug-and-play desktop and small-office deployments needing gigabit speed without any configuration. It provides fixed autosensing 10/100/1000 ports with automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover detection, positioned at the entry end of HP’s ProCurve range below the managed 2500/2600 switch families. Because it has no management interface, it’s typically deployed as a straightforward workgroup or desktop switch rather than in a managed access-layer role. The 1800 series remains common in small-office and home-office networks built during its production run, and a working used unit is functionally identical to the later J9028B revision for everyday switching purposes.
