The HP J9086A is an HP ProCurve E2610-24/12 PoE Switch, offering 24 autosensing 10/100 ports of which 12 support Power over Ethernet, part of the 2610 access-switch family aimed at deployments needing to power roughly half their connected devices (typically a mix of PoE handsets/APs and standard PCs) without paying for PoE on every port. It provides basic Layer 2 management, VLANs and QoS through the ProCurve web interface, positioning it between HP’s unmanaged value switches and the fuller-featured enterprise 2900/3800 lines. The half-PoE port allocation makes it a cost-effective fit for mixed-device wiring closets rather than all-PoE deployments, which would be better served by a fully-PoE 2610 variant.
