The Huawei WP11XPUA is an XPUa, a universal signalling and service processing board for the Huawei BSC6900 and RNC6900 base station controllers. It handles signalling processing and service control within the controller subrack, contributing to the capacity that manages calls, packet sessions and mobility across the connected GSM and UMTS radio access network. It is a processing board, not an optical cross-connect or transmission card. The XPUa installs in a PARC subrack alongside the switching (SCU), clock (GCU) and interface boards, and controller capacity scales with the processing boards fitted. Signalling processing boards are a routine maintenance and expansion spare for operators running BSC6900 and RNC6900 controllers.
