The Marconi 131-9695/01 is an MSH86 matrix unit covering stages I and III, part of Marconi’s MSH family of SDH digital cross-connects and multiplexers. The MSH matrix is built in stages, and this card combines the first and third stages of virtual-container cross-connection on one board, the MSH86 platform explicitly named in its own source data.

The MSH range (MSH64C, MSH80, MSH84 and MSH86 among the variants) is built around a switching matrix surrounded by tributary and aggregate interface cards. The matrix is the heart of the node, cross connecting virtual containers between every port in the shelf, and matrix cards are issued in stages and types that reflect capacity and generation.
