The Marconi 1HAT60586ADM is the multiplexer controller card for the SMA-1, the STM-1 member of Marconi’s Synchronous Multiplexer Access range, at issue 1.20. The controller is the card that holds the shelf configuration, runs the management and alarm interfaces and supervises the traffic cards around it, so a shelf will not come into service without a working one. SMA-1 shelves were widely deployed as terminal and add-drop multiplexers at the access edge of SDH networks, aggregating 2 Mbit and 34 Mbit tributaries onto a 155 Mbit aggregate. Issue level matters on controller cards because the software load and the shelf it is expected to manage have to agree, so the issue should be checked against the existing shelf before ordering.
