The Marconi 1HAT60707AAD is a 32 by 2 Mbit tributary card for the SMA series of SDH multiplexers, Marconi’s Synchronous Multiplexer Access range. It presents thirty-two 2 Mbit E1 tributaries and maps them into the shelf’s virtual container structure for carriage on the STM aggregate, which is the standard way legacy PDH circuits, leased lines and PBX trunks were brought onto an SDH network. Tributary cards are the highest-turnover item in a working SDH estate because port counts get expanded circuit by circuit and because a card failure takes a block of customer circuits with it, so operators normally hold them as shelf spares. The 1HAT prefix places it in the same Marconi part-numbering family as the rest of the SMA hardware. Marconi’s transmission business was acquired by Ericsson in 2006.
