The IBM 45D1386 is a Gigabit Ethernet logic card from IBM’s OSA-Express network adapter family for System z and zEnterprise mainframes. It carries the same “LOGIC CRD 1GB ETHERNET” designation as the IBM 45D1083 OSA-Express3 2-port 1000BASE-T Ethernet module (feature code 3369, used in the zEnterprise 114/2098 I/O cage), and sits in the same 45Dxxxx part-number block used across that programme, so it belongs to the same OSA-Express Gigabit Ethernet card family rather than being a generic Ethernet component. OSA-Express cards install in the mainframe’s I/O drawer and provide the strategic network communications path for TCP/IP and SNA traffic, connecting the central processor complex to the customer’s Ethernet fabric over copper twisted-pair media.
