The HP J4821A is a ProCurve Switch XL module, 100/1000-T, an expansion module for HP’s ProCurve Switch XL modular chassis family providing 100/1000Base-T copper Gigabit ports for an existing XL chassis deployment. It is fitted into an open XL bay to add Gigabit copper port capacity where the chassis is being expanded or a faulty module is being replaced, drawing on the same XL modular platform used by the related J4907A and J4878A modules. The XL chassis range remains in service across a number of longer-established enterprise deployments that predate the later vl and zl generations. Genuine modules of this kind are a routine requirement for maintaining full port capacity on an existing XL installation. Specifiers should confirm XL chassis compatibility before ordering.
