The Huawei TN120AU101 is an OAU C-band optical amplifier unit for the OptiX OSN 6800 and OSN 8800 WDM platforms, rated for input up to 0 dBm, output up to 20 dBm and gain in the 20 to 31 dB range. It is the lower-gain sibling of the TN120AU103 in the same family, suited to shorter spans where the incoming signal is still relatively strong.

An optical amplifier unit raises the level of the whole C-band multiplex in one pass, so a DWDM route can cross several spans before any wavelength needs regenerating. Where it is placed decides how it is configured: as a line amplifier at an intermediate hut it takes a weak input and restores it, while nearer the receive end it works as a preamplifier ahead of the demultiplexer.
