Huawei TN12SC201 Quidway/CX600 routing, S-series switching, OSN DWDM transmission Optical Transmission Module

The Huawei TN12SC201 is an SC2 bi-directional optical supervisory channel board for the OptiX OSN 6800 and OSN 8800 WDM platforms. It processes two supervisory signals travelling in opposite directions, extracting and inserting the system overhead and passing it to the SCC shelf controller.

The supervisory channel is what makes a DWDM line manageable. It runs at 1510 nm, outside the traffic-bearing C-band, so a site can be reached for alarms, configuration and performance data over the same fibre pair that carries revenue traffic, and it stays available when the traffic channels are down. This board supports spans up to 42 dB and provides 3R regeneration, which is what allows the supervisory path to reach across a long span without degrading. It operates independently of the SCC.
