The Huawei TN11M40V01 is an M40V 40-channel multiplexing board with built-in variable optical attenuators for the OptiX OSN 6800 and OSN 8800 WDM platforms, covering the C-band even grid from 192.10 to 196.00 THz on 100 GHz spacing through LC connectors.

The V in the board name is the difference that matters. A plain M40 simply combines forty wavelengths onto one fibre; the M40V adds an attenuator on each input so the power of every channel can be trimmed individually before combining. That matters because a DWDM multiplex has to leave the site with its channels at roughly equal power. Transponders vary, patch leads vary, and an unequalised multiplex drives the downstream amplifier unevenly, which costs optical signal-to-noise ratio on the weaker channels across the rest of the route.
