The Huawei TN11DCU07 is a dispersion compensation unit for the OptiX OSN 6800 and OSN 8800 WDM platforms, sized to compensate approximately 5 km of G.652 standard single-mode fibre. It is the shortest of the commonly held units in the family and is used for trimming, where a span is already close to the dispersion budget and only a small correction is wanted.

The module is passive. It contains a spool of dispersion compensating fibre with dispersion of the opposite sign to the transmission fibre, so pulses that have spread on the way down the span are pulled back towards their original shape before they reach the receiver. It is usually mounted between the stages of a two-stage amplifier so that the insertion loss it adds is recovered immediately.
