Netgear FSM726S: ProSafe 24-port 10/100 managed stackable switch with 2 GBIC slots and 2 gigabit copper ports.

The Netgear FSM726S is a ProSafe 24 port 10/100 managed stackable switch carrying two GBIC slots alongside two 1000BASE-T copper gigabit ports.

That combination gives a choice at the uplink: copper to a nearby core switch, or a GBIC such as the AGM721F for a fibre run to another floor or building. The switch is managed rather than smart, so it offers the full 802.1Q VLAN implementation, spanning tree, trunking, quality of service, mirroring and SNMP from a web interface or console, and it stacks so a group of units answers on one address.

It sits between the unmanaged FS series and the Layer 3 FSM7328S in Netgear’s Fast Ethernet range, which is why it turns up as the middle tier in older three-layer designs.
