The EMC 303-109-101 is a four port 4 Gbit/s Fibre Channel I/O module for the CLARiiON CX4 series. It plugs into an I/O slot on a CX4 storage processor and adds four Fibre Channel ports, used either as front end ports serving hosts or as back end ports driving the disk enclosures, depending on which slot it occupies.

The CX4 design put the ports on removable modules rather than fixing them to the storage processor board. That is what let an array be re-provisioned between Fibre Channel and iSCSI, and it also means a port failure is a module swap rather than a controller replacement. Modules are normally fitted in matched pairs so both storage processors present the same port layout. EMC joined Dell in 2016. Refurbished, with the slot and intended role confirmed before it ships.
