The Cisco CSS11503-AC is a Cisco CSS 11503 Content Services Switch chassis, supplied with an AC power supply and fitted with a Switch Control Module with 2 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks (SCM-2GE). The CSS 11000 series provided Layer 4-7 server load balancing, SSL offload and content-aware traffic distribution ahead of application server farms, and the 11503 is the smaller 3-slot chassis variant, aimed at sites needing less service-module capacity than the 6-slot 11506.

The SCM-2GE module is the chassis’s central control and switching engine, providing its own pair of built-in Gigabit uplinks in addition to whatever service modules are fitted. CSS 11000-series deployments are now a legacy platform, but some estates continue to run them and need genuine chassis to keep an existing installation operating.
