The Cisco CSS11506-2AC is a Cisco CSS 11506 Content Services Switch chassis, supplied with a dual AC power supply configuration and fitted with a Switch Control Module (SCM). The CSS 11000 series provided Layer 4-7 server load balancing, SSL offload and content-aware traffic distribution ahead of application server farms, and the 11506 is the 6-slot chassis variant in the range.

The chassis accepts the SCM as its central control and switching module along with additional service modules as required. The dual-AC configuration provides power redundancy so the chassis can continue operating through a single supply failure. CSS 11000-series deployments are now a legacy platform, but some estates continue to run them and need genuine chassis and modules to keep an existing installation operating.
