Cisco WS-C3524-PWR-XL-EN enterprise networking (router/Catalyst switch/UCS families) Datacentre Switch

The Cisco WS-C3524-PWR-XL-EN is a Catalyst 3500 Series XL switch with 24 10/100 Fast Ethernet ports and integrated inline power for VoIP handsets, running Cisco’s Enterprise Edition software image. Inline power let the switch feed IP phones directly over the same Ethernet cable used for data, removing the need for separate power injectors or local mains adapters at each phone.

This was one of the defining features of the PWR variant within the 3500 XL family. The Enterprise Edition image adds the fuller routing and switching feature set available on the platform, compared with the more limited Standard Edition image offered on some 3500 XL units. The 3500 XL series was widely deployed for wiring-closet access switching with early VoIP rollouts through the late 1990s and 2000s, and estates still running this hardware generation continue to need genuine spares.
