The Cisco MEM2811-256U512D is a DRAM upgrade for the Cisco 2811 integrated services router, taking the router’s total memory from a 256MB base specification to 512MB. It is fitted where the 2811’s factory memory is insufficient for the IOS feature sets in use, particularly routers running combined routing, security and voice services that draw more heavily on system memory than a base configuration supports. The 2811 is a fixed-configuration branch-office router from the 2800 series, and memory upgrades of this kind are a routine requirement as IOS releases and feature sets have grown since the platform’s original specification.
