Cisco PVDM2-64: 64-channel Packet Voice/Fax DSP module for Cisco ISR routers.

The Cisco PVDM2-64 is a 64-channel Packet Voice/Fax DSP Module for the second-generation PVDM family, fitted into Cisco 2800, 2900, 3800 and 3900 series integrated services routers to provide the digital signal processing capacity needed for voice transcoding, conferencing and fax relay on a voice-enabled router. The channel count determines how many simultaneous calls the router can process through that DSP resource.

PVDM2 modules remain a common upgrade or replacement item on ISR routers still running voice gateway or Unified Communications functions, since DSP capacity is one of the more frequent bottlenecks as call volumes or codec/conferencing requirements grow. Confirm the host router model and available PVDM slot type before ordering, as the PVDM2 form factor is not compatible with the newer PVDM3 slots on later ISR G2 routers.
