The Cisco VWIC3-1MFT-T1/E1 is a single-port, third-generation Multiflex Trunk (VWIC3) interface card, software-configurable between T1 and E1 framing, built for the HWIC/VWIC slots on the Cisco 2900 and 3900 Series Integrated Services Router (ISR G2) platforms. Like its VWIC/VWIC2 predecessors, it can carry either a data WAN trunk or channelised voice trunks with CAS or PRI/ISDN signalling for routers running Cisco Unified Communications features, and the VWIC3 generation adds compatibility with the newer ISR G2 backplane and its higher per-slot bandwidth. Supporting both T1 and E1 electrical standards from a single card makes it a practical stock item for organisations or resellers covering both North American and international sites without needing to predict framing in advance. It is not backwards-compatible with the older ISR G1 chassis that took the original VWIC and VWIC2 cards.
