The Cisco WS-C4948 is a fixed-configuration 1RU Catalyst 4948 switch offering 48 ports of 10/100/1000BASE-T copper plus 4 SFP uplink slots, sold here without a power supply fitted so a buyer can select AC or DC to match the deployment. The 4948 shares its supervisor-class switching architecture with the modular Catalyst 4500 line but in a fixed, non-modular chassis aimed at top-of-rack and data-centre access roles.

Its combination of full Gigabit copper density and SFP uplinks made it a popular data-centre server-access switch through the 2000s and 2010s, and it remains in service in many legacy racks.
