The Cisco WS-C6K-VTT-E is a voltage termination (VTT) module for the E-series Catalyst 6500 backplane. The VTT provides bus termination and regulated voltage rails the chassis backplane needs to run reliably, and it is a passive-seeming but essential board rather than a switching or supervisor component; without a functioning VTT a Catalyst 6500 chassis will not power line cards correctly.

The E-series VTT is specific to the enhanced 6500-E chassis backplane and is not interchangeable with the standard (non-E) VTT used in earlier Catalyst 6500 chassis. Catalyst 6500-E chassis remain common in campus cores and data centre aggregation layers built around Sup720-10G and Sup2T supervisors, and a VTT is an infrequent but critical spare when a chassis reports backplane or termination faults. Confirm chassis generation before ordering.
