Each of the 16 ports runs full duplex at up to 1Gbps, with enhanced QoS support for prioritising latency-sensitive traffic across the switch fabric. Hot-swappable like the rest of the Catalyst 6000/6500 line-card range, it slots into a Supervisor-managed chassis alongside fibre GE modules, 10/100 line cards and service modules to build out gigabit-to-the-desktop, server-farm and backbone aggregation deployments. Catalyst 6000/6500 chassis of this generation remain in service across many established enterprise and data-centre networks, and genuine spares such as this restore full port density after a card failure or expand an existing installation.
