The Cisco X2-10GB-SR is a 10GBASE-SR X2-form-factor transceiver for multimode fibre, running at 850nm over a duplex LC or SC connector with a reach of around 26 to 300 metres depending on the fibre grade in use (OM1 through OM3). It is the short-reach counterpart to the LR and LX4 X2 optics, aimed at intra-building or data-centre 10 Gigabit Ethernet links.

SR optics are typically the highest-volume 10G X2 variant because most in-building fibre runs fall well within its supported distance, and this module remains a standard replacement or expansion item on Catalyst 6500/4500, 7600 and early Nexus line cards still carrying X2 slots. Confirm the fibre grade and host line card compatibility before ordering.
