Extreme Networks 45121: Alpine 3800 GM-16X3 I/O module, 16-port 1000BASE-X Gigabit Ethernet card taking mini-GBIC (SFP) optics.

The Extreme Networks 45121 is the Alpine 3800 GM-16X3 I/O module, a 16-port 1000BASE-X Gigabit Ethernet card that takes mini-GBIC (SFP) optics on LC connectors. It fits an I/O slot in the Alpine 3804 and Alpine 3808 chassis and was the high-density gigabit option for that platform, allowing a fully populated 3808 to carry a large gigabit port count for uplinks from edge switches and for optically attached servers.

As with the other SFP-based cards in the range, the reach of each port depends on the optic fitted rather than on the card, so SX, LX and longer-reach modules can be mixed across the sixteen ports to suit the fibre available. Optics are normally supplied separately.

Alpine chassis are long out of production but remain in service where the surrounding installation has not been replaced. Tech-Star is UK-based and ships worldwide. Contact our sales team for availability and condition details.
