The Extreme Networks 16506 is a genuine Summit X440-48p, a 48-port 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE+ access switch from Extreme’s early-2010s Summit X440 generation, built to power IP phones, wireless access points and cameras directly from the switch (up to 30W per port). It runs Extreme’s ExtremeXOS operating system, carries dedicated 10Gbps stacking ports for combining several units into one logical switch, and is available with a redundant power supply option. It is a converged wiring-closet edge switch rather than a chassis-based core platform, and Summit X440 deployments of this generation remain common in enterprise LANs that have not yet moved to a newer Summit series.
