Enterasys

Enterasys Networks supplied enterprise switching, routing and wireless hardware, including the Matrix and SecureStack families, formed in 2000 from the enterprise networking business of Cabletron Systems. Enterasys was acquired by Extreme Networks in 2013 and its product lines continued under the Extreme name. Tech-Star supplies new and refurbished Enterasys hardware for the support and expansion of installed estates, with earlier-generation equipment catalogued under Cabletron and current-generation platforms under Extreme Networks. Cabletron, Enterasys and Extreme Networks: the campus switching line

One product heritage runs through three company names, plus the DEC network hardware that joined it early on.

  • 1998: Cabletron acquired the network hardware business of Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). DEC-numbered network modules are catalogued under Cabletron.
  • 2000 to 2001: Cabletron reorganised and its enterprise networking lines continued as Enterasys Networks.
  • 2013: Extreme Networks acquired Enterasys and the product lines continued under the Extreme name.
