RiverStone Networks

RiverStone Networks was spun out of Cabletron Systems in 2001, when Cabletron split itself into two companies: Enterasys for the enterprise business and Riverstone for carrier and metro Ethernet. Its roots were in the Yago Systems acquisition, one of the Gigabit Ethernet startups of the mid 1990s, and the RS-series routers it built were aimed at service provider metro networks rather than the office. Riverstone filed for Chapter 11 in 2006 and its assets were bought by Lucent, which merged with Alcatel later the same year. Tech-Star supplies new and refurbished RiverStone Networks hardware including RS8600 DC power supply modules and RS-series circuit packs. Refurbished Riverstone hardware remains in demand because the company no longer exists and metro Ethernet rings built on RS-series equipment are still carrying traffic.
