The HP 30-10022-01 is a 12-port Fibre Channel back-end switch module for HP’s StorageWorks EVA (Enterprise Virtual Array) XL852 configuration. The back-end switch sits inside the EVA’s disk enclosure fabric, providing the internal Fibre Channel connectivity between the array’s controllers and its disk shelves, separate from the front-end fabric that connects the array to hosts. The XL852 was one of HP’s higher-capacity EVA configurations, and its back-end switching fabric is essential to the array functioning at all, since a failed back-end switch can isolate whole disk shelves from the controllers even though the front-end host connectivity is unaffected.
