The HP A7537A is an HP StorageWorks 4/32 Base SAN Switch, the highest-port-count entry-level member of HP’s Brocade-built B-series 4Gb Fibre Channel SAN switch family, offering up to 32 ports for larger core-to-edge SAN fabrics than the smaller 4/8 and 4/16 models in the same range. As with the rest of the 4/8-4/32 family, the Base designation marks its starting port-license configuration on what is largely shared underlying switch hardware across the range, and it provides the same redundant power/cooling and standard Fibre Channel fabric services (zoning, name server) as its smaller siblings. Its higher port count makes it a common choice for a fabric’s core switch, with smaller 4/8 or 4/16 units at the edge connecting individual hosts.
