Huawei 02317347: S-SFP-GE-LH40-SM1550 optical transceiver, Gigabit Ethernet, 1550 nm single-mode, 40 km, LC duplex with digital diagnostics.

The Huawei 02317347 is the S-SFP-GE-LH40-SM1550 optical transceiver, a Gigabit Ethernet eSFP module running at 1.25 Gbit/s over single-mode fibre at 1550 nm, with a rated reach of 40 km through a duplex LC interface and digital optical monitoring for live readings of transmit power, receive power and temperature.

The 1550 nm window is what gives this module its distance. Attenuation in single-mode fibre is at its lowest around 1550 nm, so a long-haul gigabit link that would not close at 1310 nm will close here, which is why this is the standard choice for inter-site links across a metro or regional fibre run rather than for in-building cabling.

Digital diagnostics are worth using on a link of this length, because a slow rise in receive loss usually shows up in the readings well before the link starts erroring. Check that the host switch or router accepts Huawei-coded optics on the port in question. Tech-Star is UK-based and ships worldwide.
