Huawei TN12DCP01: DCP double channel protect board for OptiX OSN 6800 and OSN 8800, single-mode, providing intra-board, client-side and optical wavelength shared 1+1 protection.

The Huawei TN12DCP01 is a DCP double channel protect board for the OptiX OSN 6800 and OSN 8800 WDM platforms, fitted with single-mode optical modules. Its job is optical protection switching: it splits and selects between a working and a protection path so that a fibre break or a failed card does not take the service down.

The board supports intra-board 1+1 protection of an OTU’s line side, client-side 1+1 protection using a working and a protection OTU, and optical wavelength shared protection, where two separate channels protect one service across all the stations on a route. Switching happens in the optical domain, which is what makes it fast enough to hold up services that would otherwise drop on a path failure.
