The Huawei TN13FIU01 is an FIU fibre interface unit for the OptiX OSN 6800 and OSN 8800 WDM platforms, BOM number 03030GXA. It is the board where the line fibre physically enters and leaves the shelf.

Its function is to combine and separate the optical supervisory channel and the main C-band multiplex. On transmit it multiplexes the 1510 nm supervisory signal onto the same fibre as the traffic wavelengths; on receive it splits the supervisory channel back out and passes it to the SC board while the traffic continues to the demultiplexer or preamplifier. Every DWDM site that terminates a line fibre needs one per direction.

The FIU exists in several functional versions with different capabilities, and the substitution rules run one way: TN12, TN13 and TN15 can replace TN11, and TN13 and TN15 can replace TN12.
