The Huawei TN11D4001 is a D40 40-channel demultiplexing board for the OptiX OSN 6800 and OSN 8800 WDM platforms, covering the C-band even grid from 192.10 to 196.00 THz on 100 GHz spacing, built on a temperature-controlled arrayed waveguide grating with LC connectors.

The board separates an incoming DWDM multiplex back into its forty constituent wavelengths so each can be passed to its own transponder or receiver. The arrayed waveguide grating is the optical component that does the separating, and the thermal control on it is not incidental: an AWG’s channel centres drift with temperature, and without active stabilisation the passbands would wander off the ITU grid and the channels would attenuate or cross-talk.
