IBM 31P9701: 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN Mini PCI adapter for ThinkPad notebooks.

The IBM 31P9701 is an 802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI network adapter, designed for wireless-upgradeable IBM ThinkPad notebooks fitted with an integrated UltraConnect antenna. It supports tri-mode operation across the 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g standards, giving a maximum wireless transmission speed of 54Mbit/s and letting the notebook connect to and switch between different wireless network types as needed. The card fits the internal Mini PCI wireless slot found in a range of ThinkPad models from the mid-2000s, including the T40, T41, T42, T43, X31, X32 and X40 series, and was a common factory or field upgrade option during IBM ownership of the ThinkPad brand prior to the 2005 sale to Lenovo. Genuine adapters such as this one are a routine requirement for restoring wireless connectivity on an older ThinkPad or completing a wireless upgrade. Specifiers should confirm exact Mini PCI slot and antenna compatibility against their specific ThinkPad model before ordering. Tech-Star (UK-based, shipped worldwide) stocks IBM ThinkPad components.
