The IBM 80P3318 is a 2-way 1.2GHz POWER4+ processor card, from the same processor family as IBM’s documented 80P3974 2-way 1.2GHz POWER4+ processor board, built for IBM’s pSeries and RS/6000 systems of this generation. It carries two 1.2GHz POWER4+ processor cores on a single card and slots into the system’s processor backplane, giving the host system its compute capacity.

Systems built around this processor generation remain in service in a number of established legacy Unix/AIX environments, and a matched processor card is the standard field replaceable unit for restoring a failed processor or expanding an existing system.
