The Marconi 1HAT60692AAX is an STM-1 optical tributary card for Marconi’s SMA range of SDH add/drop multiplexers. It brings a 155 Mbit/s optical circuit into the shelf as a tributary rather than an aggregate interface, dropping traffic off the ring for local delivery rather than carrying it onward between nodes.

Marconi’s SMA family, inherited from GPT and Plessey, is a subrack of plug-in units: line termination units at the PDH rates, optical STM-1 and STM-16 tributary and aggregate interfaces, a system controller, alarm cards and power feeds. Marconi’s 2006 collapse ended factory support, so every SMA site still in service is maintained from secondary-market spares.
