The Nortel AA0005017 is Nortel’s Redundant Power Supply 15 (RPSU 15) chassis, an external bay that houses up to three hot-swappable power modules and supplies backup DC power to a connected BayStack or Business Policy Switch (BPS2000) unit over a dedicated power cable. Installing the RPSU 15 lets a site add power redundancy to switches that would otherwise fail outright if their internal supply went down, which matters most on edge switches carrying voice, security camera or other always-on traffic. The chassis ships without power modules or connecting cable, both ordered separately to match the exact switch model in use. BayStack and BPS2000 switches remain widely deployed, and the RPSU 15 is the standard way sites add resilience to that installed base.
