The 3Com Switch 5500-EI 28-Port FX (3CR17181-91) is the fibre variant of the 5500-EI range, providing 24 SFP-based ports for 100BASE-X multimode or single-mode Fast Ethernet fibre connections rather than copper.

Two Gigabit SFP ports and two 10/100/1000 copper ports handle stacking, uplinks and inter-switch links, and the switch carries the same Enhanced Image feature set as the rest of the 5500-EI family: OSPF and RIP Layer 3 routing, Layer 2-4 QoS and 3Com XRN stacking.
